CHALLENGE
Located in Maryland, Towson University is a renowned institution celebrated for its academic programming and impactful research. Serving a diverse student base, the university prioritizes innovation and leadership, and is a key player in the region's business and academic landscape.
Aiming to increase enrollment rates, Towson created and produced premium branded items — including gifting pins and socks — to mail to accepted students along with additional information about the university. However, due to the required packaging for these premium items, postage proved to be cost-prohibitive. Towson ultimately sought a cost-effective means of sending the items to prospective students.
SOLUTION
Due to their extensive experience helping universities improve their student communications journeys, Towson turned to RRD’s education team. After a comprehensive analysis, RRD recommended their patented Flex Mailer™ packaging and mailing solution. Approved by the USPS, the Flex Mailer is part package and part envelope, and converts non-automated parcels to USPS-automated flats, providing substantial postage savings.
Made of an outer mailer and an interior tray, the Flex Mailer is specially designed for safety during transit, and is made with 100% recyclable materials. Towson custom-branded the mailer’s flexible outer skin with a university logo, and utilized its inner tray to accommodate personalized pins, socks, and other marketing collateral for accepted students. RRD’s comprehensive mailing and fulfillment services ensured a timely and successful delivery.
