RRD's External Affairs Group works to accomplish three important missions:

  1. To make a positive difference in the communities in which our employees work and live, acting in concert with our valuable customers whenever possible, as we enable donations of time, talent and money.
  2. To help our sales professionals successfully do business with local, state, and federal governments and to involve qualified diversity partners as we serve customers in both the private and public sector.
  3. To be a strong voice for RRD in the public arena, as an advocate for changes that will increase our competitiveness and help us better to serve our customers.

Government Affairs

RRD believes that it is our responsibility to represent the interests of our industry and our customers to U.S. federal, state and local governments. Our Government Affairs department acts as an advocate for our company, our customers and our industry in three ways:

  1. We have ongoing efforts to promote favorable policies and programs through effective liaisons with government officials.
  2. We support new business opportunities for the company that include governmental dimensions.
  3. We help the company in long-range planning through assessments of trends in government policies and programs.

Issues at Hand

RRD's efforts are focused on several issues, including:

  • postal reform
  • government printing reform
  • tax policy issues
  • health care and human resource issues

In addition, RRD works with trade associations and customers to support their public policy efforts. We frequently partner with several leading industry associations, including the PRINTING United Alliance, the ANA (Association of National Advertisers) and the PostCom.

RRD recognizes the influence that corporate practices have throughout the supply chain and in the communities we serve. We look at different perspectives to ensure our ideas are fresh and our supplier relationships remain strong. We are committed to understanding and meeting the needs of our clients and the markets they serve, while also recognizing new opportunities on the supply side of our business. RRD responsible sourcing initiatives includes:

  • Purchasing from suppliers owned by person(s) that fall under different classifications
  • Utilizing varying databases to find new suppliers, such as those that have a small designation
  • Providing opportunity for all types of suppliers to submit during the RFP process
