Nestled in the vibrant city of Aurora, Colorado sits Frederic Printing, a 150,000-square-foot printing powerhouse with a history dating back to 1878. Many of Frederic’s employees are career-long print industry veterans, creating a wealth of experience and out-of-the-box, consultative solutions that clients have come to depend on.

Tracy Groholski, Plant President and a key player in Frederic’s success, explains, “Having been a part of the printing landscape for so many years, Frederic truly has a legacy of innovation and expertise.”

Tracy shared the following insights about what makes this facility a standout in the printing industry.

What about this facility makes it unique in the current marketplace?

Tracy Groholski (TG): We’ve been a leader in the industry since 1878, which is a very long time! Today, our facility serves as a hub for a wide variety of capabilities, spanning from offset and digital printing to mailing and fulfillment services. We are proud to have upgraded, best-in-class digital presses, plus 55-inch and 40-inch offset sheetfed presses. 

These digital web printing capabilities allow us to achieve a remarkable level of personalization, enabling our clients to create highly customized materials at scale. Whether it's customized books, direct mail campaigns, or other marketing collateral, we pride ourselves on our highly personalized solutions. We also host RRD’s biggest folder in the country, capable of complex folding on up to 55-inch sheets.

Above and beyond that, our team here at Frederic is truly special. We're a mix of seasoned printing experts and fresh talent bringing innovative perspectives to the table. This blend of knowledge and creativity is what sets us apart and allows us to tackle even the most complex projects.

Can you share a recent client project where Frederic Printing's technology played a critical role?

TG: We work closely with a leading educational company that specializes in helping early education students learn secondary languages. This client utilizes nearly every single capability we have to offer, including offset printing, digital printing, packaging, die cutting, gluing, and specialized kitting services. Acting as a single-source provider — and a true partner — we’ve been able to help this client thrive during a recent period of rapid growth by producing high-quality products at scale.  

When working with a client, our sales team looks at the big picture, develops a close relationship with internal client teams, and then customizes a suite of solutions designed specifically for that client. This personalized partnership approach is where our true value shines, and it's what we aim to deliver to all of our customers.

If you had to narrow it down to one, what do you consider Frederic's forte?

TG: To me, our forte is our ability to offer personalized solutions at scale, including variable printing and mailing. Our digital web printers complete front and back variable imaging in one pass, allowing us to create individually customized mail pieces. Because of this capability, we can change creative, messaging, and even names on each piece in real time. 

This enables us to create highly personalized and impactful materials for our clients, whether it's customized books, direct mail campaigns, or other marketing collateral. I truly think our consultative approach and creative problem-solving further enhance our forte, making us a trusted partner to our clients.

As business evolves, what role do you see Frederic Printing playing in your clients' evolution?

TG: In our eyes, our role extends far beyond being a print vendor. We aim to become out-of-the-box thinkers, problem solvers, and trusted advisors to our clients. We're not just providing printing services; we're guiding them through the entire process, from selecting the right paper type and finishing to suggesting direct mail campaign modifications. We want to grow with our clients.

Recent marketing trends have led to an increased demand for direct mail campaigns. We bring a great deal of direct mail expertise and have best-in-class equipment capable of high personalization, which is more impactful to customers.
